The Asian Breast Center and PHINMA Education: Partners in Educating Women About Breast Cancer September 06, 2022
The Asian Breast Center (ABC) is a comprehensive, free-standing specialty center that focuses on the diagnosis and management of breast cancer. The center provides a holistic and integrative approach to breast health care, using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. They also hope to sustain funding to provide the same level of care to many indigent patients with breast cancer.
ABC’s founder, Dr. Norman San Agustin, is an oncologist and surgeon with more than 40 years of practice in the Philippines and in the U.S. His team aims to educate more Filipino women on the prevention screening, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer.
ABC recently partnered with PHINMA Education’s Saint Jude College. Because of the partnership, PHINMA SJC’s Allied Health students and alumni will have the opportunity to use topnotch facilities and be exposed to a variety of clinical cases. Dr. San Agustin shared that he wants both students and faculty members to acquire in-depth knowledge and become familiar with the international standards in the medical field. As part of the collaboration, one of the Program Heads of SJC’s College of Allied Health Sciences will be assigned as their preceptor or clinical instructor. Seven nursing interns have been recently deployed to do their OJT at ABC. “The Nurse Practitioner Program at ABC will assist students (and alumni) in advancing their careers by enabling them to offer the best and high-quality care management,” added Dr. San Agustin.
